GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
Note: You can view map of entire Flanaess here, though it is a Pre-Greyhawk Wars map (Naerie is near south-east corner)
Azure Sea: Trading here is age-old, despite local pirates and sea monsters. The Scarlet Brotherhood greatly harmed trade here until 591CY, but the civil war in Sea Princes' lands and the Flanaess's recovery from Greyhawk Wars should allow trade to resurge.
Major sponsors of piracy here are the Scarlet Brotherhood (operating from its many ports), Amedio Jungle savages (threatening ships near the Hook Peninsula with weather magic and poisoned arrows), and occasional human or orc-crewed ships sailing from Pomarj.
The wizard Drawmij, one of the Circle of Eight and long thought to have stronghold beneath the Azure Sea, is likely working against the Brotherhood and other enemies of the open seas.
Hollow Highlands: These hills are fully within Sunndi. Naerie patrols cross the foothills but do not advance deeper into the dwarven/halfling realm. During the Brotherhood occupation locals began telling tales of mysterious disappearances and strangely coloured lights moving atop the border hills at night. No one has been able to confirm the origin of these rumours but fey magic is conjectured.
Gefjon Isle: Gefjon lies about 50 miles west of Naerie City, in the Azure Sea. Only settlement there is small fishing village called Bandhar (pop. 100). There are many natural caves on the northern part of Gefjon. Some of the caves are noted for the basalt statues placed there in ancient times by an unknown race. Aside from this, Gefjon is small and uninteresting place,
Iron Hills: This massive highland is the realm of the great dwarven kingdom of the Iron Hills, ruled by King Holgi Hirsute (LG male dwarf Ftr15). Holgi is a close ally to Iron League but not beyond dealing with Aerdi (with grave reluctance) to further his interests.
Intrusions by Ahlissan scouts stir the dwarves not-unreasonable fear of invasion, but the dwarves and gnomes are numerous, heavily armed and unforgiving. Dwarf-run mines have produced high grade ore for centuries, in addition to precious metals such as gold and silver.
Menowood: This forest is independent woodland, but the demihumans within have ties with Sunndi. The Scarlet Sign and their savage mercenaries hold the western Menowood. Their encampments are well entrenched and the forest lore of the Hepmonalanders rivals that of the Menowood druids. Naerie army forces guard the perimeter of the forest but have not made serious advances into the depths yet. The infamous werewolves of the Menowood were long cleared out by adventurers, but rumour has it they have recently returned, feeding off both demihumans and southern invaders. People of the Old Faith whisper there is something odd about this latest.
Stark Hills: This small, rugged highland is ill favoured and connected with a rich lore of fell happenings. It is known that great labyrinthine warrens of goblinoid origin exist under the hills. It is rumoured that Devnor refugees and other rebel forces hide in the Stark Hills dungeons.
